February

Wow, it's been a while but I have a lot to get out tonight. It will be some good things and some bad things.
R.I.P. Lcpl. Ward. ***This Marine was a huge part of my Marine's platoon, he was a friend, a gunner, and an overall amazing man. I don't think there's one thing that anyone could say negatively about him. He was a fun and loving man. One of the Marine wives was telling me about how on deployment day, he was sitting in his trunk with a bag of snacks and a juice box, enjoying the day and being silly. I want to say that he will be greatly missed by all. He'll be watching over our men throughout the rest of their deployment. Ooh-Rah Marine!***

Now, the second thing that I would like to address today is what a military girlfriend is. What the duties are and the guidelines because I just remembered that I came across a question the other day where someone was asking if it was weird not to talk to their soldier in a week and a half. So here goes:

Rules
1) No news is good news (no matter what situation)
2) Love is enough to bridge the oceans, the gunfire, and the deployment
3) Their motto is our motto, we live by the same code that our men do
4) Troops are all branches; Soldiers are Army, Marines are Marines, Airmen are Air Force, and Sailors are Navy
5) Danger is a part of the lifestyle, so is worry but relaxation is also a huge part
6) Never leave something unsaid
7) Write as often as you can, even if you will never send the letter, that way you can relieve some of your stress
8) No distance will separate to loving hearts
9) Strength takes courage and courage takes strength
10)Sleep? A commodity!
11) Dear John letters are a definite NO
12) This love and life is about commitment
13) We give it our all
14) We are military girlfriends, we are respected, despised, and we don't care what anyone else thinks about us. We are the definition of HARDCORE.

These are just some of the rules of thumb. It's funny to think that I've been posting for so long and what I want to say is thank you to all of you. Thank you for your commitment to your men, thank you for the love you give them, thank you for supporting our military. You all have been strong and supportive of everyone.

To our platoon: I love you boys so much, you have become such a big part of my life. Between care packages, letters, and all of the funny times you've given me, I can't imagine having been involved with anything more perfect or special than all of you. My heart goes out to all of you. You are so strong and brave. I can't tell you how much you all mean to me because words can't describe the immense sense of pride and love I get when I think of all of you. I can't wait to see you all and hug you all so tightly.

  1. Hey! This is kind of weird how I stumbled across your blog but... Lcpl Ward was a part of my boyfriend's platoon too... so our boyfriends must be in the same platoon. I just thought that was crazy. My name is Kaila. Nice to meet you.
